I came to a conclusion about myself today - I'm a wimp. When I was a young, brash 23, I organized a day-long workshop for somewhere around 100 people - I handled the publicity, pre and same day registration, took care of morning and afternoon coffee/tea breaks (and, I might add, did a major burn of my hand with boiling water for hot tea), and made sure there was on-site lunch. I rocked, thanks to a lot of reliable help.
Today, however, I wore myself out over the simple task of arranging to roll my Simple IRA from my "kindly and gently let go" former employer into my larger Deferred Annuity. I simply did not want my meager savings scattered here and yonder. Believe me, the rollover was not as "simple" as the IRA!!! It took me four phone calls and a trip to the insurance agent's office to get the whole thing accomplished......and I was worn out! See what I mean about being a wimp??? No way 4 phone calls should have worn me out.
Did I mention I was also cold all day? We were in the mid 40's, but I've so enjoyed those 70+ degree days we've had. Plus, it was cloudy and damp. The grass is out there growing, but I really wasn't into pulling on a pair of long johns to mow the yard. Besides, I got a new "Food Network" magazine in today's mail. Never let it be said I don't have my priorities straight!
